I have a whole shelf of unread books, and a longer list on my Kindle. I read late at night and on my subway ride to and from work. Admittedly, I have trashy novels, which help me unwind. Sometimes I don’t want to think, I just want to be led through a mystery or a romance. My own romance with books began with To Kill a Mockingbird, which I compulsively read once every year. Atticus Finch draws me, but so does Edmond Dantes in the Count of Monte Cristo.
What would you recommend I add to my Kindle list?
Below are my recommendations, beginning with my top five list:
1) To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
2) The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
3) The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
4) Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
5) Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston
(Please visit my Facebook page for more of my top books of all time).
Now for what I just read in the last 2 months (in no particular order)
- The Survivor’s Club by Ben Sherwood
- Nurture Shock by Po Bronson
- Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell
- What the Dog Saw by Malcolm Gladwell
- Night by Elie Wiesel
- Silent Spring by Rachel Carson
You’ve probably already read this, but 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez is amazing
It is amazing! I haven’t read it in years.
